In a historical announcement Thursday night at the Greater Grenada Partnership annual meeting, Grenada County officially became the 19th county of the Delta Council service area.

This announcement, which was the result of a unanimous bylaws change by the Delta Council Board of Directors and the business and political community of Grenada officially requesting to be part of the Delta Council service area, marks the first time that a county has been added to the Delta Council area.

The Grenada County Economic Development District has received a $170,400 in Rural Business Development (RBG) grants from the United States Department of Agriculture. The grants will be used to support the growth of small manufacturing operations in Grenada.

Darrell Robinson, the President of the Grenada County Board of Supervisors, said, “Anytime that we as a county can help our industry partners grow, we are going to do our best to do it.”

The Grenada County Board of Supervisors has received a $50,000 grant from the Mississippi Development Authority's Site Development Grant Program. The grant is to be used to complete the design engineering of an access road from Highway 7 through the Business & Technology Park North.

The Grenada County Board of Supervisors recently received a $392,665 grant from the Delta Regional Authority for a new economic development expansion project that will be located in the industrial park.

The project will create 50 or more new jobs with an annual salary range of $50,000. DRA funds will be used to build an access road and install new sewer and water lines to serve the facility. The road will serve local business and provide opportunities to attract other industries to the area.
