The Grenada County Economic Development District (The EDD) recognized this key role early on and developed an economic gardening program that responds to the needs of entrepreneurs and small businesses in the Grenada area.

About Economic Gardening
 
Economic gardening is an entrepreneur-centered economic growth strategy that offers balance to the traditional economic development practices of recruitment, retention & expansion. 
There are three elements to the Grenada’s economic gardening program:
 
  1. Technical Support that provides critical information needed by businesses to survive and thrive.
  2. Infrastructure Development that cultivates an infrastructure plan that goes beyond basic physical infrastructure and includes quality of life, a culture that embraces growth and change, and access to intellectual resources, including qualified and talented employees.
  3. Networking opportunities to develop connections among businesses owners, and the people and organizations that can guide them to continuos success — business associations, universities, roundtable groups, service providers and more.
