Entrepreneurs and small businesses play an important role in the development and sustainability of a diversified economy. The Grenada County Economic Development District (The EDD) recognized this key role early on and developed an economic gardening program that responds to the needs of entrepreneurs and small businesses in the Grenada area.
About Economic Gardening
Economic gardening is an entrepreneur-centered economic growth strategy that offers balance to the traditional economic development practices of recruitment, retention, and expansion.
Grenada’s economic gardening program has three elements:
- Technical support that provides critical information needed by businesses to survive and thrive.
- Infrastructure development that cultivates a plan that goes beyond basic physical elements and includes quality of life, a culture that embraces growth and change, and access to intellectual resources, including qualified and talented employees.
- Networking opportunities to develop connections among business owners and the people and organizations that can guide them to continuous success — business associations, universities, roundtable groups, service providers, and more.
