Home to Newsweek’s # 1 Rural School in America
Newsweek Magazine recognized Grenada elementary school as one of the country's "Break the Mold" schools and named it America’s #1 rural school. The Grenada School District has won national and state awards for programs such as the "Walls that Teach" initiative, the "Kidzeum," and the "Discovery Lab." Grenada has also been the recipient of three Governor's Awards including one for its art programs.

Largest Recreational Lake in Mississippi
With nearly 36,000 acres of recreational surface water and 148 miles of shoreline, Grenada Lake boasts sixteen boat landings, six public beaches and camping areas for primitive and class A camping. Perfect for swimming, jet skiing, boating and bass and crappie fishing Grenada Lake is a national destination for outdoor enthusiasts. Every year, as many as 7,000 people converge in Grenada Lake for the Grenada Annual Crappie Fishing Tournament. The lake also offers six basketball courts, lighted tennis courts, softball fields, fitness trails, nature/hiking trails and children's playgrounds.

Ranked among the top 10 golf courses in Mississippi by Golf Digest, the Dogwoods Golf Course at Hugh White State Park takes full advantage of the natural beauty surrounding Grenada Lake. Deep woods enclose undulating fairways leading to large, inviting greens. A variety of tee boxes give each hole a different look and play, giving long hitters a challenge while giving opportunity to those with less distance. A nature lover’s course, The Dogwoods was carved out of the forest with only necessary clearing. The hilly layout demands sharp skills and accurate ball-striking.

Rich History
Founded in 1836, Grenada has a long and rich history. With as many as 25 antebellum and victorian homes preserved and occupied today, 8 of which  are listed on the state's historical registry, Grenada offers a unique showing of architectural styles that span a whole century.
